is deeply rooted in
owner Rick Haight's vision – integrating the beauty of nature with the needs and
desires of
his clients. He is the driving force behind Four Seasons Landscape. Rick's
motivation to become a landscape designer grew from a desire to express his
artistic talents through his love of landscape design and his love of flora and
fauna. Early on in  his career,
it became apparent he had an instinct for making outdoor living spaces
extraordinary. With clients at some of the most famous resort
areas in the
smoky mountain region, Rick has developed a
unique approach to creating
incredible landscapes that invoke personal experience.
OUR APPROACH
Design/ Planning is the first building block of a great landscape and the initial step
in ensuring success. Four Seasons Landscape is built around the idea that
creating luxurious outdoor living spaces is as essential to enhancing your lifestyle as
interior design. Four Season's of living art is the result of this vision.
There are several factors involved in creating a successful landscape design.
Many of them you’ve probably heard about such as: the art of function meets
form. Professional landscape architects/designers profess that the art of
combining foliage textures, shapes and colors make a great landscape. Others
create “movement” in the landscape by using the aforementioned ideas.
“Meticulous attention to detail” and “meeting and exceeding the expectations of
customers” and “dedication to excellence” seem to be the mainstream goals, top
priorities, and the buzz lines of landscape companies and designers/architects.
These ideals and notions are elementary and fundamental to the philosophy of
Rick Haight and Four Seasons Landscape.
All of these techniques and approaches are critical steps to the creation of
successful outdoor living spaces and beautiful landscapes. However, we would
like to share some of the belief systems of our designer, Rick Haight, that we
rarely, if ever, hear about.
“The very first step to a successful design of beautiful landscapes and gardens
is to get to know your client. Not just what you think or believe about this
person or people, and not just the platonic business type of ‘knowing your
customer’, but really getting to know the personalities of the people you are
creating for”, our designer Rick, says. Rick spends several hours with his
prospective clients and at the site to be landscaped, before the first drop of
ink hits the vellum. He frequently takes prospective customers on tours of not
only the landscapes and gardens he has created, but other fine gardens as well.
During their time together, Rick is meticulously taking notes of their responses
to the different areas of the landscapes and gardens they view. “Knowing
their favorite colors and their favorite plants is just as important as knowing
the colors and plants they don’t like”, Rick comments. “ How are you intending
on using this landscape, or outdoor living space?” is one of the questions he
asks his customers. “What are your habits? How do you interact with your home
and your current living spaces?” These are all important answers to know before
the discussion of the various elements or components that could be implemented
into the overall landscape.
“Many clients actually get a little perplexed at the fact that I don’t just
crash into revealing my ideas or discussing the various elements or components
that could be used in their yard, right away”, Rick reports. “When we do get to
the point of conceptualizing design elements for their property, the ideas and
insights that I have gleaned from my interview with them are always a better fit
and are met with huge acceptance.” At this point, they “can’t wait” to get their
design and plans completed.
It is about the people and their wishes. It’s about producing and delivering
their desires and dreams for their home. It’s about Four Seasons of living art.

This belief/comment from our master designer is worthy enough to stand, alone.
Rick is constantly evolving and learning; experimenting and practicing the art
of invoking a truly moving personal experience for people interacting with their
private outdoor living rooms and gardens. To do this Rick must create and
build an atmosphere or feeling that best fits the homeowner. Tranquil, exciting,
and understated elegance, all describe the seasonal murals that our master
designer, Rick Haight, creates.
